** Practice is currently full and not taking new clients. Dr. Lucinda Brown is pleased to join the Empowering Health Team. She is an educational consultant with a background in counselling and learning support, specializing in strategies to help students with attention difficulties. In addition to private practice, Dr. Brown is an assistant teaching professor in the department of Educational Psychology and Leadership Studies at the University of Victoria where she has been the recipient of two Excellence in Teaching awards. Her teaching areas include: Learning Support, Promoting Prosocial Behaviour, Child and Adolescent Development, Psychology of Learning, Adaptation of the Classroom Environment, and Research Methods. Dr. Brown completed her B.A., B.Ed., and graduate courses in counselling at the University of Calgary. She was a tenured teacher at Rocky View School Division in Alberta before moving to Victoria to complete her M.A. and Ph.D. in learning and development. Dr. Brown has been an author, advocate for students with challenges in the school environment, and guest speaker for numerous psychology classes, professional development workshops, and conferences. She has a deep appreciation for students who struggle in the school system and she strives to make sure their unique social, emotional, and learning needs are addressed in a way that is best suited to each of them. |
